John Wick

excellent action thriller, this is how action movies should be. Virtually non stop action (like Taken) but still with at least some semblance of a story and meaning. You just know that when his fave car is stolen and they thieves kill his dog a present from his recently passed wife, that the bad guys are going to regret it. Almost martial arts like shoot outs with guns as well as the usual hand to hand martial arts too. More please!! 5/5 reblog.

Taken 3

found this a little underwhelming compared to the first instalment and even the second. I think the series has now run it's course unless they get back to brass tacks ie the hard edged action of the first movie. 3/5

American Sniper

again well acted story based on true events. Marksman and hero who did several tours in Iraq and was traumatized by it. Only to be killed on his home ground by a fellow soldier who he was trying to help. Directed by Clint Eastwood. 3.5/5

The Imitation Game

well acted and well worth a watch. Based on true events. Turing was the inventor of the modern computer, with out him our lives would be very different now. Not to mention he saved millions of lives and helped win the war with his intellect. Then was treated very shabbily by the law. 3.5/5

The Guest

is not too bad for a low budget B movie thriller, the story line lacks punch, with no major stars. An electronic soundtrack similar to Drive gives it a push.
2.5/5 but I may be overly generous.

We Still Kill the Old Way

this started off well with old time gangsters becoming vigilantes. However, ending was too soft by far an turned in to almost more of a light comedy drama. 2.5/5

Foxcatcher

very dark thriller based on true events. Takes a while to get going but you can see that John Dupont (played by an almost unrecognisable Steve Carell) a wealthy man and a General Midwinter type character, (who has more money than he knows what to do with!), has an overbearing relationship with his mother and is unhinged. He starts a Foxcatcher wrestling team aiming to win gold at the Olympics. With disastrous results for those he hires. I am no fan of Carell but this is a great performance and may well win him an award. 3.5/5

Dumb & Dumber To

Dumb and Dumber to - mildly funny but not great as per the original. Do not expect to laugh your socks off! 2/5
